Please post info about the October event in preparation for the 2010 NAC. Some of us out of towners would like to do some sailing in the area. Are there any boats who could use crew? Seems the only people posting here are NE fleet members. Thanks, Chuck

Chuck,

Thanks for putting this on the radar. The IRC East Coasts will (pending confirmation from Storm Trysail Club) be held the weekend after the 2010 NAC. NAC is October 21 - 24, IRC October 29 - 31.

The Chesapeake Fleet has participated in this regatta for the past 5 years with a OD start. We are required to have IRC certificates (unendorsed) and most take advantage of the 50% off that US Sailing invariably announces in September for boats wishing to compete in the Fall events.

Whereas in the past we were scored using IRC ratings, which as I recall ranged bewteen 1.032 and 1.037 for deep keels, we have succeeded this year in having STC assign to all boats the highest rating of those entered so that we will be sailing as a one design fleet. Not everyone is happy about that, but the majority seem to think this is a good idea. I believe it will be the same next year, unless there is a change of heart from the Class or STC.

While it was originally on our date list, I don't believe any NE boats will be going to the 2009 IRC/onedesign event. I do believe some owners (me for one) are interested in sailing with the local boats as spots and time permit if you would like to pass the word and see who may be light crew next month. Pass along my email address. thanks, Chuck

Chuck,

Will send your contact info to the local owners.
