Barrier Coating

Any thoughts on barrier coating ? Have gotten some mixed reports as to whether it's necessary and if so, number of coats to apply. Interlux recommends 4-5 coats of interprotect 2000 but I've heard that b/c the boat is vinylester that it is less likely to blister and therefore less (ie: 2) coats are needed. Any thoughts / experience regarding this ? Thanks
